KISS: Two New 'Old' GENE SIMMONS Demos Surface
June 22, 2006According to a posting on the KISS FAQ web site, two new "old" demos from KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons have recently surfaced. "Street Legal" and "Something Wicked (This Way Comes)" probably date from the 1988-90 period and were recorded at Artisan Sound in Hollywood. "Something Wicked (This Way Comes)" was the title of a 1962 Ray Bradbury gothic novel that was made into a movie in 1983. Gene has regularly used sci-fi titles for his material. The song was also recorded by Doro Pesch for her 1990 self-titled solo album that was produced by Gene, featuring musical contributions by Tommy Thayer and Kevin Valentine, though it had been considered for use on KISS' "Hot In The Shade" album in 1989. "Street Legal" is a previously unknown song in the vein of "Christine Sixteen" and "Domino", with Gary Glitter-esque lyrics along the lines of: "I don't care how old you are... / You're old enough for me." Samples of this material are available on www.kissfaq.com.
